Don’t do this

If you have a creative block, that’s ok. What’s not ok is stealing ideas from other people. For example, if you wanted to create a poster for a recently released western/love story, don’t steal poster ideas from Titanic.

Two new sites I’ve found

Over the last two days, I’ve found a couple of interesting sites. One is Pandora, a site that plays music over the net for you, free. The differeence is that they ask you for the name of an artist or a song, and then base the rest of your music on the musical characteristics of that song or artist. You can add other artists or songs and they’ll find lots of alternatives for you. It’s quite nice, actually. It’s supported by advertising, but I just listen and minimize the window. There may be ads there, but I’m not bothered by them. It will tell you why a particular song was added, in musicological terms. This is an offshoot of the Music Genome Project.

The other is streaming internet television from Veoh. Unfortunately, it will take a faster internet connsction than I have (except at work, where I can’t watch it), but the concept is interesting. It also is free and they claim to be able to provide more television than regular networks. Mind you, I haven’t looked at the list of stations or programming available.
