The Internet and Politics

There’s been a lot of discussion hereabout over the web-based fundraiser that went on and a lot of poking fun at it by locals. All about what it was and wasn’t supposed to accomplish. But the upshot is that we (and that we includes me, other local bloggers and the mouse in my pocket) sometimes forget that this whole use of the Internet is being made up as we go.
However, I have two links for you (and they’re combined into one link): Go here. What you’ll see are two things. First, this is a list of congresspersons who Twitter. And some of them aren’t coming from their staff members who twitter for the congressperson, some are the elected officials themselves on their own Crackberries. The other thing is that this page is part of Congresspedia, a citizen’s encyclopedia of Congress.
However, notice something about this twitter list, would ya? Which group of peeps is the bigger user of twitter? Yep, the marshmellow ones. More than twice as many Republicans use Twitter. So conservatives are the ones using all this new technology? Say what?
