It seems lots of people are upset over an image sent out by Sherri Goforth, a legislative aide for State Senator Diane Black, depicting all of the presidents of the United States. President Obama is depicted as only a pair of white eyes peering out from a solid black frame.

Apparently, racism is still okay if you are a Tennessee Republican. Any of the rest of us out in the business world would have been terminated instantly if we’d sent this out at our jobs. Fired. No if, no and, no but. Fired. Terminated. Canned. Unemployed. Where most of us work, that sort of  behavior is NOT tolerated ever.

When asked by a local news reporter, Ms. Goforth said she “felt bad” that she sent it to the wrong list of people. She was at work and sent out a racist picture to the wrong people. Apparently, we can also infer that she spends time at work sending stuff like that to the right people. Even though she is a legislative aide, I would assume our tax dollars pay her salary. I would also hope, although it does seem to be in vain, that she would also be terminated. It appears she has only been reprimanded. That also says something about Sen. Black as well, that she would not adhere to normal business practices.

People, this is not the 1950s or 1960s. Treating others like this is not good behavior. After all, if we do not complain when something like this happens that demeans blacks, there will be no one left to complain when they begin to demean us.

Update: Oh, great! It seems it’s not just Tennessee, it’s also South Carolina where GOP media operative Mike Green tweeted “JUST HEARD OBAMA IS GOING TO IMPOSE A 40% TAX ON ASPIRIN BECAUSE IT’S WHITE AND IT WORKS.” He must have realized the  internet lives on forever, because he deleted the post, but not before someone made a screenshot. He has at least apologized on Twitter snce then. He’s also disavowing all connections to a candidate for Governor about as fast as they are disavowing him, and as time passes whatever connection they had at one time are probably dying as fast as the documents can get shredded.
